DETROIT GUITARIST CHARGED WITH PARKING ON HIS OWN DRIVEWAY

HARPER WOODS MAN CHARGED WITH PARKING ON HIS OWN DRIVEWAY

Harper Woods, Michigan- A lifelong citizen of this tiny suburb of 10,000 woke up Wednesday to find a notice in his mail box. It was a warrant for his arrest issued by Judge Roger J. La Rose. the city's district court judge. The crime? Parking his own Dodge minivan on his own driveway. The warrant listed it as a "junk vehicle" in spite of the fact that the owner, Scott Campbell, already produced copies of his valid license plate, registration and insurance, something the local police department could have found out just by running his plate. "I was told by the city attorney that this was settled, though they should have simply run the plate to begin with".

This isn't the first time this has happened, but it is the first time the city attorney has carried things to the point of issuing a bench warrant. Campbell stated that the cause of all this is his next door neighbor, who has threatened to have the judge unseated if Campbell isn't evicted from his home of 15 years and the house torn down.

The same neighbor, Carl Moore, repeatedly threatened to have the city building inspector Gerrard Owczarzak fired from his job if he didn't follow Moore's orders. "When I bought the house, the woman next door told me that all these houses were too close together and every other one should be torn down.

They drove the old woman who lived here for 35 years into a nursing home. Five families on the other side of them have moved in and out again over the past few years. Neighbors have told me they will hide in their houses just to avoid talking to Carl. I went out of my way to be nice to them, but there's no pleasing them."

Campbell will be araigned Monday morning at District Court 32-A, where his mother used to work. "She worked for the city over 20 years and has lived here over 60 years. She can't believe this is happening".
Harper Woods is the city that threw a 70 year old woman in jail for her garden, in spite of the fact that she cut it back to meet the building inspector's demands. Campbell first came to to the city council's attention when he suggested several years ago that the residents be allowed to vote on keeping the name "Harper Woods" or changing it to "Grosse Pointe Heights", a name suggested by the 1950 steering commitee before a name was chosen.

"Those people looked and acted like I had threatened to kill them. I was shocked at their anger. It was weird. I got threatening phone calls after that in the middle of the night. A number of people told me they like the idea including a couple of city officials, but this city is dangerous enough without getting the mayor and the entire city council going after you."

ROMAN POLANSKI ARRESTED? SHARE CELL WITH PHIL SPECTOR?

From Guardian UK

For 31 years he lived as the world's most celebrated fugitive, feted by his peers in the film industry while on the run from American police after admitting having sex with a child.

But, it was revealed today, the past has finally caught up with Roman Polanski. The film director was arrested in Switzerland on Saturday on a decades-old warrant relating to the rape of a 13-year-old girl in 1977.

The director had traveled to Switzerland to accept a lifetime achievement award at the Zurich film festival, the organiZers of which expressed "great consternation and shock" at his detention. (So they weren't in on the plan?)

The 76-year-old director of Rosemary's Baby and Chinatown pleaded guilty to the assault at the time but jumped bail and fled the US the following year to avoid a lengthy jail sentence. For more than three decades he has lived in exile in Paris, refusing to return to the US even when he won an Oscar in 2002 for The Pianist.

Zurich police said he was detained at immigration in Zurich on Saturday night at the request of the US justice department and was in custody awaiting extradition.

"I confirm that Mr Polanski has been arrested. The American authorities issued an international search request in 2005 in relation to a 1978 warrant," said Guido Balmer of the Swiss justice ministry. "There was a valid arrest request and we knew when he was coming. That's why he was taken into custody." The US will now need to make a formal extradition request, however, and Polanski is likely to challenge his detention in the Swiss courts.

So Now they finally got Roman Polanski and he is almost 80 years old and ost likely going to die in prison like Phil Spector. However Phil killed someone and Polanski's victim is 45 and the mother of 3 children.

We read the court transcripts which have been unsealed and he really did rape that little girl and we believe he deserves to answer for this crime whether the victim agrees or not.

The transcripts on the Smoking gun are HERE

The victim would like the charges dropped due to the fact the District Attorney's Office draws tons of publicity into her home which hurts her husband, children and mother. Read more about her side HERE

NETFLIX IS HOPPING MAD! POSTAL WORKER DVD THIEF

(AP) A former postal service employee has pleaded guilty to stealing more than 30,000 DVDs that moved through a western Massachusetts post office. Myles Weathers, formerly of Springfield, took DVDs that were mailed by Netflix to customers for a year beginning in January 2007.

Federal prosecutors say the movie rental company alerted Springfield post office officials that a suspiciously high number of DVDs were disappearing. As many as 100 movies a week were disappearing.

Weathers was arrested in February 2008 after investigators filmed him taking DVDs from packages and slipping them into his backpack.

He faces 10 months to 16 months in prison and restitution costs of about $38,000 at his Dec. 23 sentencing. Weathers' attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment Tuesday.

This poor man needs to get cable....__

CASINO!

This post is for Beth!

In my top 5 favorite movies of all time is Casino. Guess Marty Scorsese and I go way back. Most people know the true back story behind Goodfellas and the fictional similarities to real life characters in The Godfather but most know little about the real people in Casino. I thought I add a bit from the internet on the real players in CASINO.

Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal (Ace Rothstein Robert DeNiro part)

Read the great book Casino by Nicolas Pileggi who also wrote Wiseguy.

Franks's Very Cool Website is HERE

Written by Nicholas Pileggi

For much of his professional life, the Chicago-born and casino-bred, Rosenthal has been the country's top handicapper. He was one of a handful of men who literally set the line for thousands of bookmakers from coast to coast.

During the 1970's, and early eighties, Rosenthal ran four Las Vegas casinos simultaneously, including the world famous Stardust Hotel and Casino. Rosenthal is also credited with creating the first Race & Sports book (Parlor) in Las Vegas.

Despite resistance from the traditional casino bosses, who believed exclusively in terms of table games, Rosenthal had spent decades in and around the sports world to know that it could be the mother lode of casino betting. He created a space-age theater-like Race and Sports book at the Stardust Hotel & Casino that was copied by every casino on the strip. Few if any people knew more about the world of gambling than Frank Rosenthal.

Anthony “The Ant” Spilotro and wife Nancy

Anthony Spilotro, Protégé of Mad Sam DeStefano made his bones in 1962 when he put small time burglar Billy McCarthy's head in a vise and cranked it tighter and tighter until one of his eyes popped out. “The Ant” Later became the outfits man in Vegas and Basis for the Nicky Santurro character played by Joe Pesci in the movie Casino he would also eventually whack Mad Sam.

Geri McGee Rosenthal

Wife of Las Vegas sports handicapper, Frank Rosenthal. Born Geraldine "Geri" McGee, she met Anthony Spilotro, the best friend of Frank Rosenthal, at a gambling convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she began an affair with him. She made her living as a "chip girl" (a good looking woman who hustled gamblers for a chip or two in exchange for temporary companionship) and as a part time topless dancer and occasional prostitute, hanging around the high rolling gamblers in the casinos, where she would move from gambler to gambler. Anthony Spilotro, who introduced Frank to Geri, and soon they were were a couple.

Frank did a very successful TV show while in Vegas much to the disapproval of the upper management of the mob. Great interview with Frank HERE

Though Ant and his brother died a horrible beating death and Geri died young from a suspected hot dose of heroin. Frank died at age 79 while living in south Florida.

Frank states on his website that the torture scene in the movie was accurate. Yuck! Read more on his website. How exciting Frank had the great promoter sense to build a fabulous website before he died. WHAT A LIFE!

THE SNARKY VIEW NEWS: DAVID CARRADINE

Expert Rules Out Carradine Suicide

(AP) The forensics expert hired by David Carradine's family has concluded that the "Kung Fu" actor did not commit suicide, but said that more information was needed from Thai investigators before the cause of death could be determined.

Carradine's brothers, Keith and Robert Carradine, each read part of a prepared statement to reporters from The Associated Press at a Los Angeles hotel Thursday morning. In their first appearance since their older brother was found hanging in a Bangkok hotel room closet last week, they thanked supporters and asked for privacy.

We have had serious doubts about David's suicide. We believe he may have been involved in some freakish acts and died accidently or perhaps a homocide but not suicide. Our first question about this scene was:

Why would he wait so long to do it at age 72?

Why did he fly all the way to Bangkok to do it?

Actors don't usually begin filming and then ace themselves. Doubt filled for sure. RIP DAVID

PHIL SPECTOR GETS 19 YEARS FOR MURDER

Phil Spector was finally sentenced Friday to 19 years to life in prison for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson, who was shot through the mouth in the music producer's home six years ago. Spector, 69, looked straight forward and showed no emotion as Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler ordered a term of 15 years to life for second-degree murder plus four years for personal use of a gun. He'll probably be out in 5 years. If he gets a break he may be able to obtain a mentally illness release to a mental illness facility.

Not saying that Spector is not guilty, but he is obviously mentally ill. LOOK at the FACE! OMG what a mess. OJ they let roam free to torture more people and destroy his children's lives too. Hollywood finally convicts a celebrity, frail, tiny, and insane Phil.

Why is Ryan O'Neal not in prison?? How bout that giant ass Tom Sizemore?? How many breaks does this dope fiend jerk deserve? They waiting for him to kill somebody before they restrain his druggy mania?

Well the world is finally safe from Phil.... we can all now finally sleep at night...

PROSECUTORS DENY POLANSKI BID FOR RETURN

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A Los Angeles judge on Thursday formally rejected an attempt by fugitive film director Roman Polanski to have a 1978 sex case against him dismissed because of misconduct by prosecutors.

What in the Heck is that??? Who was the original person involved here that was the one involved in MISCONDUCT??

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Peter Espinoza said he could not consider the case unless Polanski, who fled the United States for France after pleading guilty to rape, showed up in his court. Sure come on back here Roman! Just stay in France!

Lawyers for the Oscar-winning director made clear this week that Polanski would not return to the United States to contest his conviction in person because he would be immediately arrested. He cannot be extradited from France.

The lawyers have said they will appeal Espinoza's ruling on constitutional grounds, (which are???) alleging that misconduct by the original prosecutors and the judge had deprived Polanski of his right to a fair hearing.

Polanski had sought to have his 1978 guilty plea to having sex with a 13-year-old girl thrown out on the grounds that the judge at the time was improperly coached by a prosecutor. Who pleaded GUILTY? DUH

Espinoza said in February that there was "substantial misconduct" in the original case against Polanski and gave him until May 7 to turn up in his court to pursue the matter. Polanski did not appear. Of course not....

Polanski fled to France in the 1970s because he was convinced the judge in the case intended to send him to prison despite a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Anyone else would have expected a prison term for child molestation...

He has never set foot on U.S. soil since his flight to France, (nor has he been missed) Once less child molester to monitor the better...

FINALLY DREW PETERSON INDICTED!

FINALLY The came down with an indictment on this WIFE KILLER and general all around power monger freak. Peterson is the poster boy for CONTROLLING MEN Magazine.
We can't believe it took this long. We hope he is locked up for the rest of his miserable "life".
Did you see him drag out his kid to beg for his creepy life? Nothing is beneath this beast.

Here is the latest news:
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. – Former police sergeant Drew Peterson, long suspected in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, was charged Thursday with murdering his third wife, whose 2004 death had been deemed accidental before authorities revisited it once Stacy Peterson vanished.

Will County prosecutors and Illinois State Police planned an evening news conference to discuss a murder indictment issued against the former Bolingbrook police officer in the death of Kathleen Savio.

Peterson was arrested Thursday evening during a traffic stop in Bolingbrook, said Chuck Pelkie, spokesman for Will County state's attorney.

Authorities declined to immediately release further details.

Savio's body was found in an empty bathtub. Her death was originally ruled an accidental drowning but authorities later said it was a homicide staged to look like an accident.

Savio's family has long voiced suspicions about the circumstances surrounding her death, especially after the October 2007 disappearance of Stacy Peterson, then 23.

Peterson, 55, is a suspect in the disappearance but has not been charged in that case. He has repeatedly said he thinks Stacy Peterson ran off with another man.
Of course had Stacy "run off" sooner she'd still be alive. Odds are she went after child support money from another deadbeat father which got her killed.

Woody Allen Objects!

We find this story particularly obnoxious as Mr Allen is worried about his "reputation" being endangered by Mia Farrow possibly testifying in court on his trade mark infringement suit.

He didn't seem to worry all that much about running off with Farrow's way too young adopted daughter... His reputation as far as we are concerned was shot many years ago. The old creepy child molester. Why he was allowed to get away with the "crimes" he did and then cry to the tune of 10 million bucks over use of his image. Who the heck would want his picture on anything?

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Lawyers for film director Woody Allen asked a court on Monday to prevent American Apparel from calling his wife Soon-Yi Previn and his ex-girlfriend Mia Farrow as witnesses in an upcoming trial.
Allen sued the U.S. clothing company for trademark infringement more than a year ago seeking more than $10 million after his image was used on billboards in New York and Los Angeles without his consent.

In court papers filed Monday, Allen's lawyers said a possible witness list provided by American Apparel Inc. included Allen, Farrow, Previn, his sister Letty Aronson and Hustler magazine founder Larry Flynt.
The motion filed in Manhattan federal court asks for a court order preventing American Apparel from calling witnesses and introducing evidence "concerning Mr. Allen's personal and family life."

The lawyers said any plan to put Farrow on the stand was "part of a brutish attempt to smear and intimidate Mr. Allen." We think Mr. Allen smeared his own reputation all on his own. He should have gone to jail for the crimes he commited against Farrow's young child. Anyone with less attorney money would have.

MY BLUE HEAVEN AND GOODFELLA HENRY HILL

A lot of people that haven't read Henry Hill's Book do not know that My Blue Heaven the Steve Martin movie was based a lot on Henry Hill's life in The Witness Protection Program.

It seems that Nicholas Pileggi was working with Henry by phone a lot while writing his book Wiseguy. Well guess who Mr. Pileggi is married to....

Nora Ephron! The fabulously talented writer and film producer.

Guess who was writing My Blue Heaven at the same time as Nick was writing Wise Guy? (Goodfellas)

Henry wrote about being mad that he didn't get paid for being the "star" of MBH In his book.

There are an awful lot of similarities although done with great hilarity. One of Henry's biggest complaints in Witness Relocation was that he couldn't get good produce at the grocery stores in Omaha. He is a fabulous cook and need produce like rugula for his Italian recipes.

There is a scene in MBH where Steve Martin is in the grocery store complaining about the very same vegetables. Steve's character Vinnie was always running scams and risking his safety in the Witness Program.

So was Henry... In fact they moved him from Omaha to Kentucky and no matter where they put him he was arrested for "wiseguy" behaviors. So is it coincidence that Nora wrote a very funny version of Henry Hill's escapades? We think not and neither does Henry Hill...LOL

Watch My Blue Heaven again and with Henry Hill in mind... It makes this movie even funnier at least it does to the Snarkies LOL

OJ Rat Bastard is GUILTY

Finally they found Oj Simpson GUILTY! We hope the lock this SOB up soon! Here is more from our fabulous pal across the pond Amy Grindhouse:

O.J. Simpson Found Guilty: Faces 15 Years To Life

Oh can you stand it?? Finally he gets what he deserved in 1994. Barbra watched every minute of that trial.

Here it is:
(CBS/AP) O.J. Simpson, who went from American sports idol to celebrity-in-exile after he was acquitted of murder in 1995, was found guilty Friday of robbing two sports-memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in a Las Vegas hotel room.

It only took the jury one day to reach its verdict, reports CBS News correspondent Manuel Gallegus.

A weary and somber Simpson released a heavy sigh as the charges were read by the clerk in Clark County District Court.

The Hall of Fame football star was convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and 10 other charges for gathering up five men a year ago and storming into a room at a hotel-casino, where the group seized several game balls, plaques and photos. Prosecutors said two of the men with him were armed; one of them said Simpson asked him to bring a gun.

Simpson's co-defendant, Clarence "C.J." Stewart, 54, also was found guilty on all charges in the Las Vegas case.

Sentencing for the 61-year-old former football star was set for Dec. 5.

Journalist Michael Bryant of Legal Edge Network told Early Show anchor Chris Wragge that the verdict could send Simpson to prison for life.

"You're looking at, if you want to do the math here, 132 years to life, if you start calculating each count, plus the enhancement for the use of a gun which could effectively double the years for the count," Bryant said. "Yes, he is 61 years old, and prison at that age is not an easy haul.

"I would be shocked if Simpson gets life in prison based on this," said CBS News legal analyst Andrew Cohen. "This is a not a 'life in prison' sort of a case. But he's not going to get a slap on the wrist, either, and his chances of getting a new trial on appeal are really remote.

"This was not a complicated case either in law or in fact," Cohen said.

Simpson's girlfriend and his supporters in the courtroom were in tears. The judge then denied a defense request to let the men go free pending appeal.

They were immediately handcuffed cuffed and taken into custody. Simpson showed little emotion as officers walked him out of the courtroom.

His sister, Carmelita Durio, sobbed behind him in the arms of Simpson's friend, Tom Scotto, who said "I love you" as Simpson passed by. As spectators left the courtroom, Durio collapsed.

Simpson's defense was that he only confronted the men so he could get back personal items that were taken from him but prosecutors called it a planned assault with a deadly weapon, saying Simpson was arrogant thinking he could get away with it.

Jurors declined to answer questions after the verdict was read.

The judgment came 13 years to the day after Simpson was cleared of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in Los Angeles in one of the most sensational trials of the 20th century.

"I don't like to use the word payback," defense attorney Yale Galanter said. "I can tell you from the beginning my biggest concern ... was whether or not the jury would be able to separate their very strong feelings about Mr. Simpson and judge him fairly and honestly."

"Theoretically, you would like to think so," Bryant said, "but we can't get in their heads to find that out. They started with 500 jurors to whittle it down to those who could do just that, but is it really possible? Is it possible to take what you learn so much about so many years ago and just wipe the slate clean? "

Bryant said the question may be moot because of the preponderance of evidence in the Las Vegas case. "The thing you can't forget here is there was a lot of evidence that these crimes took place," he said.

Galanter said his client had expected the outcome, and in a courthouse conversation with an Associated Press reporter on Thursday, Simpson had implied as much.

Simpson said he felt melancholy and that he was "afraid that I won't get to go to my kids' college graduations after I managed to get them through college."

Galanter said it was not a happy day for anybody. "His only hope is the appellate process," he said.

Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin said prosecutors would not comment until the case was "completely resolved."

Judge Jackie Glass made no comment other than to thank the jury for its service and to deny motions for the defendants to be released on bail.

She refused to give the lawyers extended time to file a motion for new trial, which under Nevada law must be filed within seven days. The attorneys said they needed time to submit a voluminous record.

"I've sat through the trial," Glass said. "If you want a motion for new trial, send me something."

Stewart's attorney, Brent Bryson, promised to appeal.

"If there was ever a case that should have been severed in the history of jurisprudence, it's this case," he said of unsuccessful attempts to separate Stewart's case from Simpson's because of the "spillover" effect.

From the beginning, Simpson and his lawyers argued the incident was not a robbery, but an attempt to reclaim mementos that had been stolen from him. He said he did not ask anyone to bring a weapon and did not see any guns.

The defense portrayed Simpson as a victim of shady characters who wanted to make a buck off his famous name, and police officers who saw his arrest as an opportunity to "get" him and avenge his acquittal.

Prosecutors said Simpson's ownership of the memorabilia was irrelevant; it was still a crime to try to take things by force.

"When they went into that room and forced the victims to the far side of the room, pulling out guns and yelling, `Don't let anybody out of here!' - six very large people detaining these two victims in the room with the intent to take property through force or violence from them - that's kidnapping," prosecutor David Roger said.

Kidnapping is punishable by five years to life in prison. Armed robbery carries a mandatory sentence of at least two years behind bars, and could bring as much as 30.

Simpson, who now lives in Miami, did not testify but was heard on a recording of the confrontation screaming that the dealers had stolen his property. "Don't let nobody out of this room," he declared and told the other men to scoop up his items, which included a photo of Simpson with former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.

Four other men charged in the case struck plea bargains that saved them from potential prison sentences in return for their testimony. Some of them had criminal records or were otherwise compromised in some way. One, for example, was an alleged pimp who testified he had a revelation from God telling him to take a plea bargain.

Memorabilia dealer Thomas Riccio, who arranged and secretly recorded the hotel-room confrontation, said he netted $210,000 from the media for the tapes.

Similarly, minutes after the Sept. 13, 2007, incident, one of the alleged victims, sports-memorabilia dealer Alfred Beardsley, was calling news outlets, and the other, Bruce Fromong, spoke of getting "big money" from the case.

"The audiotape recording of the incident overcame, I think, serious doubts that jurors may have had about the credibility and the reliability of the witnesses against Simpson," Cohen told CBS News.

"And when the defense argued that he case turned on Simpson's intent when he went into that hotel room, jurors simply didn’t buy that Simpson had any innocent motives."

Simpson's past haunted the case. Las Vegas police officers were heard in the recordings chuckling over Simpson's misfortune and crowing that if Los Angeles couldn't "get" him, they would.

During jury selection, Simpson's lawyers expressed fears that people who believed he got away with murder might see this case as a chance to right a wrong.

As a result, an unusually large pool of 500 potential jurors was called, and they were given a 26-page questionnaire. Half were almost instantly eliminated after expressing strong feelings that Simpson should have been convicted of murder.

The judge instructed the jurors to put aside Simpson's earlier case.

In closing arguments, Galanter acknowledged that what Simpson did to recover his memorabilia was not right. "But being stupid, and being frustrated is not being a criminal," he said.

He added: "This case has taken on a life of its own because of Mr. Simpson's involvement. You know that. I know that. Every cooperator, every person who had a gun, every person who had an ulterior motive, every person who signed a book deal, every person who got paid money, the police, the district attorney's office, is only interested in one thing: Mr. Simpson."
